An Afternoon at Cedar Point

Hello Everyone,

Spring break is now fully in the swing and as an amusement park junkie I got the opportunity to spend the afternoon at Cedar Point. PointBuzz sponsored the event and all proceeds benefited Give Kids the World, an organization I worked with when I was in Orlando in November.

The event included at 90 minute behind the scenes tour and a luncheon with the park's GM and Marketing Director. They gave us a lot of insider information, and expanded on some other new happenings, but overall it was a wonderfully nerdy event.

I leave for D.C. and Boston tomorrow (D.C. first and then Boston, just to clarify), where we are going grad school shopping. Wish me luck!

End of the Term

Hello Everyone,

End of Term announcement

The end of the term is rapidly coming to a close as this week is finals! (Thank God) I am very excited to, again, be done with all my classes and start fresh after spring break.

We enjoyed having two prospective students join us yesterday to learn a bit about the Communication Department. It was truly a pleasure to have lunch with them. Good luck on your decisions!

Yesterday was also the official announcement for the Spring Fest concert, which is the main event for the weekend. The performer will be Sean Kingston, opened by Industrial Rhythm. This free event promises a great time year after year, and I expect this year to be no different!

Media Convergence Board -- On the Move

Hello Everyone,

Last night we held our very first meeting of what is currently being called the 'Media Convergence Board'. This is the proposal that I have been referring to for the last year, which is now coming to fruition.

Last night was a forum style meeting where I presented my plan to the department and cleared up any rumors being passed around. It was also the perfect time for questions about the proposal and recommendations for changes. There was definitely some hesitation in the plan, but desire to reach a common goal of communication and collaboration. I'm very excited to see where this goes from here. We are setting a new meeting date for the beginning of March, so keep your fingers crossed.
